North Star Project – Meaningful Adventures for White Tails
The North Star Project gives White Tails the opportunity to complete a personal, meaningful project that involves about two hours of activity. These projects encourage community service, environmental care, and kindness, helping Beaver Scouts make a positive impact!
🌿 Environmental & Community Service Projects
✔ Cleaning up garbage during daily walks over several days.
✔ Planting flowers & tending a flower bed to help keep the world beautiful.
✔ Helping neighbors by raking leaves, gardening, or lawn care.
✔ Creating a Bird Nest Supply Shop to support local wildlife.
✔ Making toys for dog shelters to bring joy to animals in need.
✔ Making care packages for individuals facing challenges.
💝 Acts of Kindness & Community Support
✔ Sharing messages of support—creating sidewalk chalk art or posting positive messages online.
✔ Displaying cheerful pictures in windows for the community to enjoy while passing by.
✔ Creating Kindness Rocks and placing them in the neighborhood to spread happiness.
✔ Visiting a senior or nursing home—sharing stories, interests, and spending time with residents.
🐝 Wildlife & Conservation Projects
✔ Learning about bees through the Bee Awareness Challenge, then building a Bug Hotel or Bee Hotel to support pollinators.
✔ Adopting an animal at the Toronto Zoo or similar conservation program.
✔ Participating in the Cities Tree Planting & Stewardship Events—checking the calendar for available dates.
✔ Joining clean-up efforts through events like Don't Mess with the Don with family.
🌎 Sustainability & Eco-Friendly Challenges
✔ Completing the Earth Day Challenge, then taking it further with:
🔹 Two weeks of zero garbage, tracking waste and exploring alternatives.
🔹 Using a carbon footprint calculator to measure and reduce personal impact.
The North Star Project encourages White Tails to take action, lead their own initiative, and help improve their community and environment while celebrating the spirit of Scouting!
