91st Toronto Scout Group

Welcome to 91st Toronto Scout Group

Where adventure begins and confidence grows!

Picture your child mastering their first camping knot, leading a team challenge, or proudly earning a badge they've worked toward for weeks. At 91st Toronto Scout Group, we turn everyday kids into confident leaders through hands-on adventures, outdoor exploration, and meaningful friendships that last a lifetime.

For over 60 years, we've been helping young people ages 5-26 discover what they're truly capable of. Whether it's navigating with a compass, organizing a community service project, or simply learning to work as part of a team, our scouts develop real skills while having genuine fun.

Ready to see what your child can achieve?

Why Choose 91st Toronto?

🏕️ Real Adventures, Real Skills
From weekend camping trips to urban explorations, our scouts experience hands-on learning that builds practical life skills. Your child will learn first aid, outdoor survival, leadership, and problem-solving—all while thinking they're just having fun.

🤝 A True Community
We're more than a program—we're a family. Parents tell us their kids can't wait for scout meetings, and many of our adult volunteers are former scouts themselves or parents who got involved and never left.

🌟 Individual Growth at Every Level
Whether your child is naturally outgoing or more reserved, athletic or artistic, we meet them where they are and help them grow. Our age-appropriate sections ensure every scout is challenged just enough to build confidence without feeling overwhelmed.

🏘️ Deep Local Roots
As part of Toronto's east end community for decades, we participate in local parades, support neighborhood initiatives, and give our scouts meaningful ways to make a difference right where they live.

Our Sections - Finding the Right Fit

BeaversBeaver Scouts (Ages 5-7)

"Learning through play and discovery"

When: Tuesdays or Thursdays, 7:00-8:00 PM at Bowmore Public School, Junior Gym
Perfect for: Curious little ones ready for their first taste of independence

Your Beaver will explore the world through games, crafts, and simple challenges. They'll learn to share, follow basic instructions, and work with friends—all while earning their first scouting badges. Think nature walks, storytelling, simple cooking, and lots of active play.

What parents love: The perfect gentle introduction to group activities and following routines outside the home. Many parents are amazed at how quickly their shy 5-year-old starts speaking up and helping others.

🚨 We need leaders! Interested in training as a Beaver leader? We'll provide all the support and training you need.

CubsCub Scouts (Ages 8-10)

"Challenge and adventure"

When: Mondays, 7:00-8:30 PM at Bowmore Public School, Junior Gym
Perfect for: Kids ready to take on bigger challenges and earn recognition for their efforts

Cubs tackle more complex projects, learn practical skills like knot-tying and map reading, and start taking on leadership roles within their "Six" (small team). They'll plan activities, complete badge work, and participate in inter-group competitions.

What parents love: Watching their child's confidence soar as they master new skills and take pride in their achievements. Cubs often become more helpful at home and better at solving problems independently.

🚨 We need leaders! Love working with this energetic age group? Join our Cub leadership team.

ScoutsScouts (Ages 11-14)

"Challenge and adventure at the next level"

When: Currently seeking leaders to reopen this section
Perfect for: Pre-teens and teens ready for serious adventure and real responsibility

This is where scouting gets serious. Scouts plan their own activities, take on major camping expeditions, and work toward challenging badges in areas like survival skills, community service, and specialized interests. They're also eligible to help lead younger sections.

What parents love: Seeing their teenager develop genuine leadership skills, make responsible decisions, and find positive peer influences during these crucial years.

🚨 Help us reopen! We need committed adult volunteers to restart our Scout section. These youth deserve the incredible opportunities this program offers.

What Parents Really Want to Know

"Is scouting safe?"
Absolutely. All our leaders are trained in youth protection and risk management. We follow strict Scouts Canada safety protocols for all activities, and our insurance coverage is comprehensive.

"What if my child is shy/not outdoorsy/has specific needs?"
We've successfully included scouts with all personality types and abilities. Our leaders are adapt activities and provide support where needed. Many of our most confident leaders started as quiet, hesitant kids.

"How much time does this really take?"
Weekly meetings plus occasional weekend activities or camps. Most families find the time commitment very manageable, and kids often say scouts is the highlight of their week.

"What about costs?"
Registration fees go directly to Scouts Canada. Each section sets modest dues to cover supplies and activities. We run several fundraisers throughout the year to keep costs down, and financial assistance is available if needed.

"Do parents need to volunteer?"
We hope you'll get involved because parents consistently tell us it's rewarding, but participation in activities is voluntary. However, we do need adult leaders to keep our sections running—and we provide all the training and support you need.

Join Our Adult Volunteer Team

We need you. Specifically, we need adults who want to make a real difference in young people's lives while having more fun than they expected.

Why Adults Choose to Volunteer

Personal Growth: Learn new skills alongside the youth—from outdoor survival techniques to event planning. Many volunteers discover talents they never knew they had.

Meaningful Impact: Watch children transform from hesitant newcomers into confident leaders. You'll see the direct result of your investment in their development.

Community Connection: Join a network of like-minded adults who care about youth development. Many of our strongest friendships started through scouting.

Family Time: If you have scouts in the group, volunteering gives you shared experiences and common ground with your child that will last well beyond their scouting years.

  • Cub Scouts - Great for adults who enjoy the enthusiasm of 8-10 year olds
